We all have the power to think our own thoughts. This power remains with us at all times, throughout our entire lives.
When discussing mindsets, shifting them or changing them, it doesn’t mean that we’re giving up our values, beliefs or identity.
A shift or change in mindset is just another way to look at something, a different outlook, perspective or point-of-view. A point-of-view that is constructive and improves upon and ADDS to our current set of beliefs.
This other point of view doesn’t have to be accepted and shouldn’t be if you feel that it hinders you in any way.
However, if you find that you resonate with a new idea, belief or perspective that helps you and provides you with a greater understanding of yourself and therefore the world around you, by all means use it to improve your conditions in life, whether it be physically, financially, emotionally or spiritually.
Again, the purpose of learning about new mindsets or how to shift a mindset is to ADD to what you already know and believe. A new mindset does not replace prior beliefs but adds to your current understanding.
Mindsets can be either positive or negative, depending upon where you place your focus and attention.
I personally choose to focus attention on the positive aspects of life because that is what helps me the most and provides me with the greatest results. I’ve found that the biggest problems in my life have occurred when I let myself become negative and I allowed negative thoughts, people and messages influence me.
A new mindset is just a shift in thinking.
For example, let me use an analogy to explain the creative mindset as opposed to the competitive mindset.
If I go to the gym and build my muscles, does that take away the ability of anyone else to do the same?
Of course not, that would be ridiculous.
What if I were to go to the beach and soak up some sun, would that prevent anyone else from enjoying the sun?
How about the air? Does my breathing affect your ability to have enough oxygen?
Of course not.
So how come when it comes to money, possessions or positions at work, people feel the need to take from others?
This is due to a competitive mindset and a lack mentality. It’s a mindset based on fear, limitation and the feeling that there isn’t enough and that the person is going to be without.
Muscles, sunshine, air, money and everything else are abundantly provided and aren’t dependent upon us attempting to take from or limit each other.
You can really never take anything from another which is not rightfully yours. Attempting to gain personally by trying to limit another is impossible and it will always boomerang toward the person or people who attempt it.
When you attempt to limit or withhold anything from others, you're really only limiting yourself.
Q. Does this mean that if everyone accepted the creative mindset and the mindset of abundance that nobody would want to work?
Quite the contrary.
People will continue to work and continue to create because work provides satisfaction, purpose, meaning, and a feeling of contributing to others’ lives.
Work is also a form of expression and we cannot stop from expressing ourselves and our energy in some form or another.
Therefore, our work provides us with an important and necessary outlet to express our talents, skills and abilities.
The acceptance of the creative and abundance mindset means that we can enjoy what we’re doing AS we’re doing it. We can focus 100% on what we need to do which keeps our eyes and hands off of what others have.
The creative mindset frees us from limited thinking and from comparing ourselves to others.
This mindset empowers and strengthens us to create whatever we truly want to create.
It’s our choice, at all times.
My hope is that this analogy has helped you to shift your perspective as to what's available to each one of us.
Q. What is it that you want to create or add to your life?
Think about it and then do it.
I promise that as you take the steps toward what you want, the world will conspire to assist you in your endeavors.
