Here’s a very effective and practical method for finding solutions to your particular challenge or obstacle.
What you do is you act as though you are providing a solution to a friend or a family member who is seeking your advice on the same challenge that you have.
By doing this, you’re free to provide any and all solutions that come to mind without any preconceived notions about your own willingness, skills or ability to carry out the advice or suggested solutions.
Pretend that any and all suggestions will be implemented 100% by your friend or family member without fear or excuses. This ensures that you don’t limit your suggestions to fit what you think the friend or family member will or will not do or what you think they are capable of doing.
When you do this exercise, you want to open up your imagination and come up with as many solutions as possible.
Exercise limitless thinking.
Let’s use an example.
Say your “friend” asks you for specific ideas or solutions for helping them to increase their business.
You know that this friend will implement any or all of the suggestions in which you provide without fear. Therefore, you freely provide the following list of suggestions:
You ask your “friend”…
1. to ask themselves to think about and come up with some ideas on their own (because you learned that this is an effective method to find solutions to our own challenges)
2. what they've had success with so far and if they could build upon what has worked or do more of it
3. what hasn’t worked and if it can be improved upon or if they should stop doing it altogether
4. what have they been reading, watching and listening to related to their business or industry and have they implemented any of the good ideas that they’ve learned about
5. who do they know who is knowledgeable in their field and have they talked to them or sought their advice
6. have they specifically defined what an increase in their business is (i.e. a specific # of sales, # of customers, a dollar amount, an increase in products or services, or maybe an increase means having more balance between their personal and business life)
7. have they let everyone know what they do and are they using every opportunity to let people know
8. what actions are they currently taking to improve themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually as well as improving themselves in regards to sales, marketing, accounting, budgeting and other business-related topics; in other words, how much time are they investing in themselves and their personal growth
9. are they maximizing their time to focus on the areas that provide the best returns and are they delegating the tasks and responsibilities that can be carried out more efficiently and effectively to others
10. are they remaining passionate about what they do and are they enjoying the process AS they do it
This list is not exhaustive and these questions are meant to stimulate thought.
You might have noticed that I did not tell my “friend” what to do, I asked questions to stimulate their own creativity and to use their ability to come up with their own answers from within.
Now that your “friend” has thought about these questions, added more questions and answers of their own, and hopefully written down the answers to those questions, the next step is in implementing the ideas and solutions.
We usually HAVE the solutions, it’s whether or not we believe that we are capable of implementing them.
This is why having a great self-concept and believing in yourself is key to living the life in which you truly desire.
I hope this method helps you in finding and HAVING the solutions to your most pressing challenges.
In my next blog, I’m going to discuss a quick and effective method for implementing the information in which you read, listen to or watch.
Until next time, remain focused, disciplined and persistent and keep taking efficient actions each day. Enjoy the process AS you reach your goals.
Remember, it’s not the number of things you do each day, it’s the efficiency in which you do them.
To your continual and ongoing success,
