Questions for Clarity, Focus and Direction by Francis Bills

Let’s discuss a few questions which I believe if answered honestly will help you to achieve anything in which you truly want, supposing that you commit to taking action on what you discover.

1)    How much time each day do you invest on improving yourself?

This can include reading books on your industry or profession, learning about how to be more effective at what you do, thinking about how to improve your relationships with others, how you can improve your financial health or what you can do improve your physical health and overall well-being.

If you are investing less than an hour each day, I would highly recommend making it a priority to implement the habit of waking up an hour earlier or making time throughout each day to focus on any areas that could benefit from some improvement.

This exercise isn’t intended to make you feel that you’re not doing enough already, it’s only used for the purposes of discovering and prioritizing the areas in which you’d like to attain better results.

2)  How much time each day do you spend on trivial things? Things that distract you, are unimportant, and which are not conducive to reaching your goals?

It’s vitally important to answer these questions honestly and candidly. It’s o.k. if what you discover makes you feel uncomfortable, at least you’ll know where you stand.

These questions are not intended to pass judgment on ourselves or anyone else. They are intended to provide clarity and increase our awareness of what we can do to move us closer to our goals.

3)  Ask yourself, “Do I have written, specific goals that I am currently focused on?” If yes, are the goals WANT goals or NEED goals?

We are motivated more by our WANTS than our NEEDS, so make sure that your goals are based on what you WANT.

Also, you can ask yourself the questions, “Are my goals big enough and am I passionate about attaining them?”

“Do these goals scare me but at the same time excite me?”

If not, you may want to revise your goals to ones which move you to get out of your comfort zone and compel you to take action.

4)  Am I engaging in destructive habits that are preventing me from getting to where I want to be? If so, what are they and what can I do to replace and eliminate them?

Once we identify how we are spending or investing our time on a daily basis, we can decide what actions we need to take to change our behaviors and get the results we truly want.

I sincerely hope that you take the time to answer these questions candidly.

If you do, you’ll identify where you need to focus your attention and you’ll gain clarity and direction in reaching your goals.

The key to knowledge is in the application, the use of it.

So be sure to implement any ideas that you find useful, either from me or anywhere else.

Sincerely,

Francis Bills
