Stay the Course by Francis Bills

How are your thoughts?

Are you staying focused on what you want and off of what you don’t? Are you directing your attention and interest consciously and consistently?

How are you feeling?

Are you remaining consciously aware of how you feel physically throughout the day?

Are you using this awareness to take action and to do what’s necessary to keep your energy up and to keep your body feeling its best?

What about your emotions?

Do you find yourself in a better mood more often and capable of maintaining a positive attitude for a longer duration of time and more frequently?

How about spiritually?

Are you consciously focusing each day on being present, relaxing and focusing on your breathing, and expressing gratitude and appreciation for what you have?

Are you acknowledging the fact that even when you may feel lonely, you’re not alone?

Are you able to accept, appreciate and appropriate your good, for yourself and others?

Are you allowing yourself to give love and to receive love?

How about your actions and behaviors? Are they aligned 100% with your values, beliefs and ideals?

In other words, are your actions and behaviors consistent with what you’re telling yourself and others you believe in?

Are you courageously taking bold actions toward creating the life you truly desire or are you sitting back, waiting for someone or something to light a fire under your ass?

Well, if you’re waiting, here’s the fire.

Make a promise to yourself to take efficient action each day toward your goal, dream or desire.

Have faith that these actions, however minor they may appear, are leading you toward the desired result.

Remember to enjoy the process as you reach your goals and to remain grateful for what you currently have.

Just because you are moving toward a specific goal doesn’t mean that you should feel in want or need.

The desire for something is a desire for fuller expression, expansion and a fuller life.

Action Exercise:

Take a current goal, task or project that you’ve been thinking about starting and write it out on a sheet of paper or in a journal.

Write down at least 3 actions that you can do to move you closer to reaching the goal, to complete the task or to finish the project.

Write out a promise to yourself on the sheet of paper.

It can read something like this:

I, (name) promise to (complete or begin action #1) to get me closer to reaching, completing or finishing my (goal, task, or project).

Sign your name and make this action a priority. Make sure that the action is reasonable but also stretches you a bit.

If it helps, tape the promise to your bathroom mirror, on the refrigerator or somewhere that you are sure to see it.

A good way to ensure that you’ll take action without any distractions is to prepare for the usual distractions the night prior.

For example, if you have to get the kids up at 6AM and know that demands will be placed on you at that time, plan on getting up earlier.

Remember, reading about ways to get things done and actually getting things done are not the same. So please be sure to implement what you read, whether it’s from me or anywhere else.

The key to reaching goals is by taking efficient action each and every day.

To your continual improvement and growth,

Francis Bills
