The Importance of Matching Intentions by Francis Bills

Recently I’ve been thinking on the idea of intentions.

 

Specifically, how the matching of, or closely aligning them is vitally important in all areas of our lives, in all of our relationships.

 

It sounds like common sense but when intentions aren’t clearly communicated and there’s room left open to question the intentions of others, issues can, and usually do arise.

 

We cannot leave intentions to chance. We cannot assume that everyone knows what our true intentions are and we cannot assume that we know what others’ are.

 

It’s up to each one of us to clarify our intentions from the start and to continuously communicate them clearly, as intentions change and evolve over time.

 

With clearly defined intentions, all parties are aware of what’s expected from the relationship thereby creating an atmosphere of greater understanding and trust.

 

Take a moment and think about the importance of matching and clarifying intentions in your business and personal relationships.

 

In whatever business you’re in, do you know 100% what the intentions of the end user of your product or service really are?

 

Have they communicated them effectively and clearly?

 

Have you asked questions to discover exactly and specifically what they want, need and are looking for?

 

Do they know what they want or are they saying they want one thing but behaving contrary to what they say?

 

Are your intentions in alignment with theirs and have you communicated and expressed your intentions clearly?


Have you communicated how you can provide a solution to their problem or challenge?

 

Q. How will thinking about this idea of clarifying and matching intentions benefit my business and personal life?

 

A. When we consciously strive to uncover and align the intentions of both parties in a relationship and are committed to clearly communicating and understanding each other, our ability to successfully achieve our goals while simultaneously helping others to achieve theirs is increased dramatically.

 

Business is based on relationships and successful relationships are based on mutual understanding of each other’s honest and true intentions.
